The Friday Pfister Fix
Sending you into your weekend with positive vibes.
Halloween 2020
Halloween traditions run deep in the Pfister household. From trips to local haunts, to days at the pumpkin patch, to over-dosing on candy (yeah, not great for someone in the field of dentistry), we love us some Halloween. In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, you’ll never guess who (in our family) has wall-to-wall cavities…
Adapt and Overcome
In the past few weeks’ Team Member Spotlights, I introduced you to my Orthodontic Smile Team. During our 36 years in practice, we have amassed a combined 211 years of experience in orthodontics (including myself). And with experience comes a willingness to adapt and overcome. In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, I reflect on lessons in adapting to change and what that might mean for overcoming the challenges of COVID-19.
Team Member Spotlight - Terri Pfister
Ever wonder how a guy like me stays out of trouble (for the most part)? In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, I showcase the amazing behind-the-scenes woman who has the thankless job of accounting and bookkeeping and keeping me out of trouble. And when she said “I do” at the altar, I’m not so sure Terri Barndt knew what she was getting into when she became Terri Pfister!
Team Member Spotlight - Alexis Marimberga
Hi friends! In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, I reflect on a crazy week (from the Indians getting knocked out of the playoffs to presidential debates-gone-bad). And of course, I can’t help but talk about Fall happenings. But most important of this week’s musings is our Team Member Spotlight, which shines on the youngest member of our team, Alexis Marimberga.
Team Member Spotlight - Pam Archer
Temperature dropping, humidity dropping, daylight dropping, yes, Fall is in the air. And in this week’s #fridaypfisterfix Team Member Spotlight, I’d like to showcase someone who fell for orthodontics at a very young age… the one and only Pam Archer.
Team Member Spotlight - Nikki Danko
Hey folks, meet Chuck’s Angels… always packin’ forehead thermometers and Purell. In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, our Team Member Spotlight shines on Nikki Danko (middle in photo).
Team Member Spotlight - Jacki Churchman
Notice the person in the center of this photo? She’s also the center of office creativity. In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, our Team Member Spotlight shines on Jacki Churchman, one of the most creative people I’ve ever met!
Team Member Spotlight - Kelly Brucchieri
As we head into Labor Day Weekend, those of us who remain employed are grateful to have work… which leads me to this week’s #fridaypfisterfix Team Member Spotlight. Drumroll please… Kelly Brucchieri. You’re not going to believe the mistake I made before coming to my senses and hiring Kelly!
Team Member Spotlight - Deidra Bates
Now here's a blast from the past! And guess who this week's #fridaypfisterfix Team Member Spotlight is about? You guessed it... our warm, angelic-voiced, Irish music-loving receptionist Deidra Bates! Learn more about our 3rd longest running employee here!
Team Member Spotlight - Donna Langworthy
Recognize this smiling receptionist from the early days of Pfister Orthodontics? Many of you know her, and she still greets our patients, to this day, with that warm smile of hers. In celebrating 36 years in orthodontics for Team Pfister, this week’s #fridaypfisterfix Team Member Spotlight shines on the one-and-only Donna Langworthy.
Team Member Spotlight - Connie Clower
August is a very exciting and humbling time for Pfister Orthodontics as we celebrate the anniversary of the opening of our practice in Medina. This year, we’re celebrating 36 years of creating smiles, and I’d like to showcase a team member once a week so you can meet the people behind those smiles. This week, meet Connie Clower, who has been with us since the beginning…
Happy Anniversary Team Pfister
Happy anniversary Team Pfister! 36 years ago this week, we moved into our current office that, at the time, was only half the ground floor. A lot has changed in orthodontics over the past 36 years. But the one constant has been the love and support the residents of Medina County have given us year-in and year-out. In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, learn more about our journey from 1984 - present.
Pillars of Life - Part 2
In last week’s #fridaypfisterfix, I shared the first 2 of 4 “Pillars of Life” - lessons in health and wellness that will extend your life. In the final of this 2-part series, I reveal Pillars 3 and 4. (Hint: #3 is stress management and number 4… well… you’ll have to read to find out!)
Pillars of Life - Part 1
It’s always been a goal of mine as an orthodontist to treat the “whole patient.” In other words, I’m not just invested in my patients’ dental health, but also their overall well-being. In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, as part of a 2-part series, I share 2 of the 4 “Pillars of Life” - lessons in health and wellness that were shared with me at a conference a while back. Emphasizing these pillars has helped me live a healthy and rewarding life and I’d like to share them with you, too.
Wetting a Line
Well, the Governor didn’t shut us down this week… that’s a relief! But some of my favorite summer activities - such as trips to Put-in-Bay and Cedar Point - have become somewhat tainted by COVID restrictions. So last weekend, I wet a line with the nieces and nephews… (And no, we didn’t catch this shark in our back pond!)
Choices in Movement - Invisalign or Braces?
Over the years, I’ve had a love-hate relationship with Invisalign. I even thought about ditching it as a treatment option. But then, Invisalign upped its game. In this week’s Friday Pfister Fix, I give my 2 cents about Invisalign vs braces. I also bust 5 myths about Invisalign that will help you determine if Invisalign is right for you.
Change Starts with Me
As we prepare to celebrate our country’s birthday this Fourth of July, I personally can’t think of a time when I’ve seen our country more divided and stressed to the max as it has been this year! In 1986, Robert Fulghum wrote a book entitled, All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. Check out this week’s #fridaypfisterfix about why I think our country could glean a few lessons from that book to create real change. But even more, find out why real change starts with you and me!
To Crown or Not to Crown
Looking to keep that beautiful smile in tact? In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, I’ve got a few words of wisdom as it pertains to whether or not you should get a crown after you fracture a tooth. Even better, I’ll give you some “food for thought” if you’d like to keep from cracking those pearly whites altogether… (Hint: you might want to avoid chomping down on ice!)
Her First Love, His First Hero
Going into Father’s Day weekend, I’ve got fathers on the mind. I lost my father when I was quite young, so my mom had to fill in as both mom and dad. When it came time for me to be a father to two boys of my own, I aimed to be the best dad I could be. They say a father is a daughter’s first love and a son’s first hero. This may be true for some, but most of us dads probably fall somewhere in between. In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, I explore the history of Father’s Day and what makes dads special. To all you dads out there, happy Father’s Day!
Let's Have a Safe Summer
Moms, Dads, kids - you won’t believe the dental injuries that start to roll in when summer… well… rolls in. In this week’s #fridaypfisterfix, I’m suggesting my top 4 dangerous summer activities to avoid based on over 35 summers in orthodontics. Hint - #1 is a no-brainer… but #4… you won’t believe it!
